What is Greenlight Health Data Solutions?
Greenlight is a patient health data retrieval platform for patients and organizations across healthcare, insurance and research. In 2019, Greenlight was spun-off from Medfusion to accomplish health data liquidity. Medfusion was the first vendor to provide the patient portal and a pioneer in the patient portal industry for over two decades. Greenlight created a revolutionary permission-based platform for health record retrieval that puts patients in control of their own data. We access, aggregate, and share patient data with you, our client, on the patient’s terms, in minutes.
We allow you to access health data for your users securely and safely. In this document, we refer to users, patients, and individuals all with the same meaning. These individuals are those for whom clients are seeking the EHR records. This includes medications, lab and test results, diagnoses and more.
Greenlight overcomes patient data interoperability challenges regardless of the record silos in various EHR systems. We built data retrieval engines (also referred to as DREs) and a national directory of providers, portals, and systems' capabilities that we use to retrieve Continuity of Care Documents (CCDs) and FHIR discrete data. If you are unfamiliar with CCDs or FHIR, see the Terminology section of this guide.
The Greenlight Platform handles all data storage and synchronization in a secure HIPAA-compliant manner. All data is encrypted at rest, and all communication is secured using TLS. The data will be available to you via secure REST APIs, detailed in the rest of this document and the technical reference section.
